Robert // Don't Wait

Hi, my name's Robert. I'm 38. I'm a client here at ICCS.

Right now I’m proudest of actually making the decision to get my GED and further my education after this. I mean, yeah, this was kind of, not forced on us, but it’s required but I took it how it is and made the best of it. I like designing, maybe like branding, labeling, stuff like that. I’m really into like shoes, snowboard, sports stuff, backpacks, glasses, so I think that’d be kinda cool.

Before I came to CEO, wow, I don’t know, a father. I do have a daughter, that was the main point and working, taking care of her. Her name’s Madison, seven years old, gorgeous, looks like her mom, blond hair, blue eyed. I dunno she thinks she’s 18 already, already wanting a cell phone and an iTouch and all that other stuff. It’s like, ugh, you’re seven, you don’t need a phone. But you know, she’s my whole life and she’s the reason I want to do better.

My advice would just be to take responsibility for your actions and don’t wait. I mean, ‘cuz in my case, my case was 15 years ago and it finally caught up with me so its like, my whole lesson from this thing is just take responsibility for what happens when it happens and go from there. As you get older the value of an education increases, I think. Like, I watched my dad work ‘till he was 70 years old and it’s like, he’s paying for it now. I don’t wanna be like that. I want to be able to be like, oh I’m retired, I got a pension, I got, y’know, I’m taken are of forever.

So yeah, education is definitely where it’s at; I’ll push that on my child, maybe more if I have them.
